Meeting for the 2nd September 2019 opened at 6:30pm with 10 members in attendance.
Question time opened with a vivid discussion about travelling overseas with an iPhone or iPad. Serge suggested that the chip on sims will work across the EU.

Why would a MAC computer keep shutting down? There could be several reasons why a MAC could shutdown unexpectedly. Robin advises to:

Talk of the night was Neville bringing in his older MAC computer and Robin used ‘Disk Warrior’ to fix the issues on the MAC.

AMUG meeting on Monday 5th August 2019 was attended by 8 members.
Robin opened the meeting by asking the group for questions and discussion focused around how to clean up files on older mac computers.
Robin provided a demonstration of the ‘Disk Warrior’ app that can be used to clean up and re-write redundant files from previously deleted apps. ‘Disk Warrior’ can assist to regorganise older files on older MAC computers if MAC is still in good working order. ‘Disk Warrior’ amongst other functions will find redundant files then allow you to correct or remove them based on filtered criteria. Cost is about 40USD.
Robin also dazzled the group with his endless knowledge of video and audio file management. Converting mp4 to VOB format is a breeze. Try out Handbrake to convert files. There is also a variety of different apps and utilities for MAC computers on tukows.com

AMUG 1st July 2019 opened at 6:30pm with 10 in attendance.
Robin called for questions from the group and there was much discussion around the new macOS.
Catalina is the new macOS operating system with sidecar as the main attraction.
We watched a video on the main features in Catalina on the 9to5Mac website.

The AMUG monthly meeting on Monday 3rd June 2019 was attended by 9 members at NSW campus.
The main raffle prize was a Toshiba 1 TB USB 3.0 Hard drive.
Robin with a little help from friends again delighted the group with a selection of demonstrations of apps, utilities and technical tips.

Tip from a genius!
Roger visited the Apple Store for help with his Mighty Mouse. The Apple Advisor checked and suggested a new one @ $119. An Apple Genius was consulted who suggested instead of eveready to try Duracell and mouse worked like magic! p.s. Mighty Mouse was a raffle prize.

6th May 2019 meeting convened with a number of members away.
Robin provided an informative session to the group.
Kath treated the group to an enjoyable supper of light refreshments and snacks.
Barbara ensured prizes for the raffle were provided.

The April meeting had a few members away.
The meeting had a longer question time with many of the ten members in attendance asking and sharing technical information. It was beyond 8pm when the group were once again provided with supper and refreshments that were most welcome on a hot evening. Thanks go to Kath for providing such a tempting supper.
We reassembled to the drawing of the raffle with Serge winning first prize of the iTunes card.
Robin demonstrated how to add new Fonts to the font book and he even showed us that there is a music font!
We were also treated to a demonstration of a font manipulation program to create your own fonts-Fontographer. Navigating to the Font Book – you are able validate fonts.
Problems with fonts ? You can easily remove the font! Oh and don’t forget to ensure you verify. Go to the Fontbook and check file has ‘validate’ status.

AMUG 4th February 2019
First meeting for the year 2019.
The group were shown video from Barbara’s iPhone using Airplay in Control Center to connect to Reflector 3 on Robin’s MacBook. Flooding in Northern Queensland video and audio footage of the dam opening was mirrored. Airplay connection requires devices tone on the same network or connected using an Apple TV device.
Question time including a vivid discussion around recent internet interruptions and some shared their experiences with technical support.
Suggestions for connecting multiple devices in your home is to aquire a device such as Linksys Velop is a wifi device sold by Apple and it has three transmitters. Download the Linksys app to the iPhone and you can connect nodes or devices and it’s technical term called a mesh network. Remember to set a password on your network!

It has been a big year for the group.
Last meeting of the year was held on the 3rd December 2018.
We farewelled our long time group member Ken Driver who has moved north to live out his retirement. On behalf of our group our treasurer Barbara spoke of the many achievements and contribution Ken has made over many years. We wish Ken and his wife a long, happy and healthy retirement.
Once again we were all entranced by the fascinating wizardry exhibited by Robin, our technical in house master who took us on a journey through USB-C connectors to audio apps tips and tricks.
Our December 2018 raffle included a selection of festive fun and technical gadgets. Major prize of the external HDD was won by Serge.
A festive feast of culinary delights was enjoyed by all. Big thank you for yet another superb catering event made possible by our own Kath.

The November meeting turned into another jam packed session with our in house technical guru, Robin, once again treating us to a delight of apps and tips and tricks. Even our Q&A session was overflowing with advice and troubleshooting ensuring all members had an opportunity to ask for technical assistance.
The raffle prize was a selection of iTunes card, USB storage sticks and some early Xmas gifts which included a few humorous mouse mats.
Next meeting is our special Xmas event with the main raffle prize of an external hard disk drive.
